Patients' rights
1.The right to information about medical care
Patients have the right to be informed about the services and therapeutic methods they need and about the hospital's ability to provide them. They have the right to free access to medical care, in accordance with the legal provisions. Patients also have the right to know the identity, professional status and qualifications of those providing healthcare services, and to be informed about the facilities the hospital offers for their personal care, safety and comfort.
2.The right to care
Patients have the right to healthcare of the highest standard, regardless of social status, age, sex, ethnicity, religion or political beliefs. Their perceptions regarding their illness, care and treatment are respected, and they are able to make informed decisions about their care together with the medical staff.
3.The right to access medical information
Patients have the right to be informed about their state of health, the proposed therapeutic procedures, the diagnosis and the prognosis of their condition, through the medical team and the discharge summary. Information is conveyed to the patient in a manner suited to their capacity to understand, and foreign citizens have the right to receive information in an official language. Patients have the right to freely express their opinions about the care provided in the hospital.
4.The right to privacy and confidentiality
Medical information and the patient's identity are accessible only to those who are directly involved in their care. Confidential information is disclosed only with the patient's express consent or in the case of criminal investigations.
5.The right to be informed about the patient–hospital relationship
Patients are informed about the legal regulations, including the tariffs charged for services. They have the right to have their beliefs and their moral, cultural and religious convictions respected, and to be treated with attention, consideration and professionalism.
Patients' obligations
Within the hospital, noise of any kind that may cause discomfort to patients is prohibited.
Patients have the following obligations:
- 1.To observe the hospital's rules of discipline;
- 2.To use the property made available to them with care, any damage being subject to the rules of civil law;
- 3.Not to smoke in the room or in the hospital hallways;
- 4.Not to consume or bring alcoholic beverages into the hospital;
- 5.To wear the hospital attire and not to leave the hospital premises in this attire;
- 6.To follow the dietary regimen indicated by the doctor;
- 7.To observe visiting hours so as not to disrupt medical activity;
- 8.To keep the room and common areas clean;
- 9.To address the medical and nursing staff in a civil manner;
- 10.To present the documents required for admission;
- 11.To sign the medical services contract;
- 12.To honour the financial obligations resulting from the treatment plan.
